A Mirror to be missed

Just learned that the Montreal Mirror is no longer published.

That means that we won't have the chance to see great cover pages like those bellow:

It's not only the cover images that will be missed, it's the whole newspaper. Thankfully, the newspaper's ex-staff now publishes online at Cult Montreal

Montreal's famous F1 shame.

This week the F1 is back in Montreal, and as usual, there are always people that have some smart advice on what to do in the city during the Grand-Prix.

Unfortunately for the human race, the F1 is by far the most macho and most superficial "sport" there is. Actually, it's not even a sport, because the cars have to do all the hard work. The F1 is just an engineering race, that the jocks have started liking, out of shame for having lampooned the nerds in high-school and now, as adults, seeing how much more successful the nerds are.

Student protests in Montreal

As you might very well know, Montreal is currently in the grips of a large scale student protest movement. There are almost daily protests in the city streets, and often they degenerate into violence. The police are having the time of its life, by arresting as many poor students as possible, because you see, they are the evil terrorists of today. Hopefully, all of this will end with no tragedies.

How protests used to be.

St-Patrick's and Aniston: the 2 don't mix

We just wrote about St-Patrick's parade in Montreal, and in the process, discovered that none-other than Hollywood darling Jennifer Aniston had made a pseudo-horror / joke movie in the early 90ies about some leprechaun. This is no joke.

One thing that we don't understand though, is the people's obsession with Jennifer Aniston! She's really nothing that special, be it on the acting front, personal front or even looks.

Some nightlife reviews and Vogue scandals

It's been a while, but here we are back, with a big sleuth of reviews of nightlife spots in Montreal. Starting with La Buvette chez Simone, an amazing wine bar in the Mile End neighborhood, moving on to Phillips Lounge, a classy business casual lounge in downtown Montreal, and ending with another wine bar, Pullman.

On an different story from Montreal's nightlife, I will go back to my favorite topic, magazine covers. There is storm brewing in a tea-cup about Vogue's cover with British singer Adele: apparently fans are mad because the magazine "Photoshop enhanced" curvy Adele way too much for the cover photo. I leave it up to you to judge

Winter wonders in Montreal

Christmas is now long gone, it feels like it was half a year ago already. I just can't believe it.

To help you survive the Montreal winter wonders, just follow this smart advice: go out, go to parties and go snowboarding.

Don't forget to take a break from time to time, and spend a quite night in, under a blanket with your loved ones, watching a fun movie with some good wine to warm up.

Yes, winter is wonderful when you think about it. And it will be over soon, so take advantage of it.

Christmas is only a day away

And in case you haven't finished all your Christmas shopping, do not despair, here are some tips on quick and dirty Christmas shopping hacks.

In case you're wondering what the Lindsay Lohan reference at the beginning of the article is all about, then consider the cover of Playboy magazine bellow, featuring the starlette:

Personally, I think the cover is pretty lame. The photo is not nice at all. But apparently, the issue is flying off the shelves of magazine stores.
