Movember, or why I rather donate to homeless people

Our friends at Montreal-Clubs.com have risen against the Movember movement. That could be quite a dangerous gamble, considering how powerful Movember has become. But I tend to agree with the view that it is ridiculous that we're so well organized for prostate cancer (because Movember is an amazingly successful and creative fund-raising drive) while for other worth-while causes you can't see us lifting our fingers. Like the poor homeless person begging on the street: who cares that they might drink the 1 dollar you give them, if drinking is all they have left. We give 1 dollar of tip for a 5 $ cappuccino without even thinking about it, yet we won't spare some change. This double standard is disgusting.

Resolutions for the new years (party)

Alright, we're already in November, and in 6 short weeks, 2010 will be done and gone, part of the past.

And to celebrate the departure of 2010 and the arrival of 2011, once again Montreal will erupt in an orgy of New Years celebrations, with every nightclub, bar and restaurant putting on a NYE event. Alcohol will be flowing, food will be plenty and dancing and partying will be the world of the hour.

So if you want to celebrate NYE in Montreal, you'll be happy to learn that you can buy all your NYE events tickets online at the Montreal new years calendar webpage.

Get ready, organize with your friend and greet 2011 in style.

Kim Kardashian in W Magazine

As a normal human being, I have a particular interest (actually not that particular) in beautiful magazine covers, as for example Christina Hendricks on the cover of the New Yorker.

Well, yesterday I noticed this cover of some magazine I didn't even know before, called W Magazine, with Kim Kardashian, shown bellow:

I didn't really like the cover at all, I found it to be boring, but it did catch my attention because it promises a lot. It definitely promised quite a notch above what we are used to seeing with Montreal nightlife girls.

And it sure did deliver. There were only 2 photos of Kim Kardashian inside, but I'll let you make your own opinion. The only thing I didn't like is that the metal paint doesn't cover her whole head too, like the iconic victim of Goldfinger in James Bond.

The quality of the scan is not that great, you should really see the glossy paper product.

The site of W Magazine has some more photos, but they definitely aren't as racy or interesting as the ones above. That's a big mistake, trying to be politically correct on the web because kids can see it; as if they can't see the magazine and what's inside.

And bellow, a golden Bond moment:

Whiskey (and Scotch) in the jar

Montreal starts to have a small but exciting Whiskey scene. But one thing is for sure, as more and more people discover the pleasures of single malts, there will spring more and more bars in Montreal specialized in serving that magical drink.

If you're interested in learning more about the art that whiskey is, check out the site of Ralfy, a true whiskey aficionado and enthusiast, pumping hundreds of pots and videos on all kinds of different whiskeys. This guy's work is truly a labor of love.

Bellow is his concluding episode on Canadian whiskeys:
